Emdee is operated by Geoffrey Kimpyneck, sole trader, Geneva, Switzerland. Contact: hello@emdeeapp.com
By using Emdee, you agree to these terms. If you do not, please do not use it.
Emdee is a Markdown editor for people who work with AI tools. It comes in two levels.
Free, and without an account. The full editor, running in your browser: multiple tabs, linked local files, two-way synchronisation with files on your disk, offline use, search, focus mode, table of contents, export, and the file converter. Your documents stay on your machine. This level requires no account and collects nothing about your documents.
Pro, with an account. Everything above, plus your documents stored in our cloud and synchronised across your devices, and access for AI assistants through MCP.
We charge for what has a real server cost. The editor itself is free and is intended to stay that way.
You need an account only for Pro. You can create one with an email code, or with Google or GitHub.
You are responsible for keeping access to your account. Tell us at hello@emdeeapp.com if you believe someone else has it.
You must be old enough to enter into a contract where you live.
Emdee Pro is offered on a monthly or yearly subscription. The price is the one displayed on our pricing page at the moment you subscribe, and is shown inclusive of any applicable VAT or sales tax. We may run promotions or discount codes from time to time; where one applies, the discounted price and its duration are shown before you pay.
If we change our prices, the new price applies from your next renewal only, never to a period you have already paid, and we will tell you by email before it takes effect. You are free to cancel before the change applies.
Stripe is the seller. Payments are handled through Stripe Managed Payments, which means Stripe Inc. is the legal seller of record for your subscription. The purchase itself is therefore governed by Stripe's own terms, and Stripe is responsible for tax collection and remittance. Stripe issues your receipts and invoices, which you can find at any time through Settings → Manage payment.
These terms govern the service we provide to you. They do not replace Stripe's terms for the transaction.
Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each period, until you cancel.
You can cancel at any time from Settings → Cancel.
.zip, in plain
Markdown. This is offered on the cancellation screen and is available at any time from the
account menu.Refunds. As Stripe is the seller of record, refund requests are handled by Stripe under its policies. If something has gone wrong, write to hello@emdeeapp.com first — we would rather fix it.
Deleting your account is a separate action, in Settings. It is immediate and permanent: your profile, your cloud documents, your access tokens and your subscription are all removed. Your local files stay on your disk.
Your documents are yours. We claim no ownership over anything you write.
We store and transmit your documents only to provide the service: synchronising them across your devices, and serving them to the AI assistant you have connected. We do not read them, we do not analyse them, and we do not use them to train anything.
You are responsible for what you put in them, and for having the right to put it there.
Do not use Emdee to break the law, to store or distribute content you have no right to, to attack or overload the service, to try to reach other people's data, or to resell the service as your own.
We may suspend an account that does these things. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will tell you first.
Emdee Pro lets you give an AI assistant access to your documents through MCP, using an access token you create.
That access runs under your account with the assistant's provider, and under their terms. What the assistant reads, writes or does with your documents is between you and them. You can revoke a token at any time from Emdee, which cuts the access immediately.
Emdee is provided on a best-effort basis. There is no guaranteed uptime and no service level agreement.
We may change, add or remove features. If a change removes something you rely on, we will give notice where we reasonably can.
The Emdee software, name, logo and design belong to us. These terms give you the right to use the service, not to copy or redistribute it.
Emdee is provided as is. To the extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising from the service is limited to the amounts you have paid for it in the twelve months before the event.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability for intentional wrongdoing or gross negligence, or any liability that cannot be excluded under the law that applies to you.
Keep your own backups. Emdee's whole design encourages this: your documents live on your
disk as ordinary Markdown files, and you can export everything as a .zip at any moment. We
build carefully, but no service should be your only copy.
We may update these terms. If a change matters, we will say so on this page and, for anything significant, by email to account holders. Continuing to use Emdee after a change means you accept it. If you do not, you can cancel.
These terms are governed by Swiss law, and the courts of Geneva, Switzerland have jurisdiction.
If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you live, and you may also be able to bring proceedings there.
